What Does God Say About You Fulfilling Your Passions

I’m a firm believer that family is first. Yet, sometimes that comes at a cost to us women. We have the tendency to help everyone else and place ourselves and passions on the backburner. Some of us even convince ourselves that it is just a delay, and we’ll just pick back up what we want to do, later. Sometimes, we say to ourselves, “Once the children get bigger…” or “Once I purchase my home…” or “After I get married…” But what does God have to say about us fulfilling our passions?

While we take care of others around us, I believe that God intended us to share our gifts and passions as well. First Corinthians 12:7 tells us, “Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.” The Lord has given each of us gifts and talents. So, what are yours? Have you found yourself helping others so much that you’ve suddenly lost your own passion or voice for what God has called you to do?

As women, sometimes we become so engulfed in what we need to do for others that we can’t even remember what our own passions or calling. Often times, we’ve also lost ourselves in the hustle and bustle called life. And I get it. Many of us have begun to sort of lose ourselves in others.

And yes, it’s okay to be that helpmate, encourager, nurturer, and everything else that others perceive us to be. However, how do we then begin to view ourselves? This is when we need to take a moment to remember that in order to be the best wife, mother, sister, friend, or daughter, we must also know who we are and what we have to offer, too.

As women, we can’t continue to nurture and fill up others with their hopes, dreams, and passions, while being empty on the inside ourselves. If we’re honest, some of us aren’t even half full. Let me ask you a few questions. Have you ever asked yourself, “How did I become lost in translation?” Also, what is your language that you are trying to speak to others? Because that language that has become your fire and passion, is the very thing God has intended for you to do and share with the world.

I love what Philippians 2:13 says, “For it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.” So, find your voice and operate in your true self. Because the truth is, you can be filled up with your own hopes, dreams, and passions, while you fulfill the will of God for your life.

As women, there is no doubt that we have a lot to say, and we don’t want it lost in translation. So when we find our passions and begin to speak our God-given language, we begin to mold and shape our lives in a way that becomes a reflection of our true selves. That’s when we begin to see what we have to offer to others and begin to walk the path God intended for us. Let’s begin to nurture ourselves and share those findings with others.

Until next time, embrace the leading of what God has said about you fulfilling your passions.

Very true indeed. By the end of the week we are so burnt out we put what we want to do on the back burner. Even though we hear God speaking to us. Encouraging us to move. I keep telling myself to just start somewhere. My gifts will make room for me.
